Assisting low-income, unemployed people in securing employment.
As part of the Business Opportunity Center (BOC), the Workforce Program provides extensive outreach, education referrals and registration assistance into relevant pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs in port-related industries. Participants will receive a one-on-one assessment on their interests and abilities to help determine the best opportunity for them. Through the program, participants could obtain permanent employment in maritime, construction trades, or green career industries such as cargo handling, logistics, commercial fishing, seafood processing, shipbuilding, vessel repair and maintenance, all of which have routine annual earnings of $80,000+ per year. This project focuses on low-income Latinos, immigrants and limited English speakers.
